In 2000, Royal Appearance underwent testing at Rancho Murieta in the Federation's 100-day test. He was the ONLY stallion to receive marks of at least 7 in all categories and received 9's for character, willingness to work and ability to work. He finished 4th overall, with a jumping index of 118.44 and a dressage index of 120.29. As a result of his overall total of 121.16 points, Royal Appearance was named a Class I Stallion. At his ISR/Oldenburg NA licensing, Royal Appearance earned a total score of 153.5 points, second in the history of the registry only to that earned by his sire!

In 2001, Royal Appearance took part in his first year on the showjumping circuit. Following a short breeding season, Royal went to Florida to train and compete under Margie Goldstein-Engle. Despite competing against a more experienced peer group, Royal held his own at each American Young Jumper Championship qualifier he attended. At the AYJC Finals at the Hampton Classic in September, 2001, Royal Appearance maintained a no-fault record and was one of fifteen 6-year olds to make it to the final day of competition. In the dramatic jump-off round, Royal Appearance was one of only three to go clear! He finished in second place, earning the title of Reserve Champion 6YO Young Jumper.

Royal Appearance also competed successfully in combined training events under the direction of Hilltop Farm's trainer Hans Engberg. He demonstrated tremendous athleticism, willingness, determination and talent for cross country.

His sire, Riverman, is one of the most popular and prepotent stallions in North America today. Riverman was named Grand Champion at Dressage at Devon in 1995 and has gone on to produce more Premium foals than any other stallion on the continent. His offspring have had successful careers in all areas of sport - dressage, showjumping, eventing, combined driving and in the hunter ring. He has been a leading sire for Holsteiner, Oldenburg, Swedish, Dutch and Westphalian registries. Riverman has sired approved sons both in the United States and Germany and his daughters are highly sought after.

Royal Appearance's broodmare sire Lord Calando is the sire of many international showjumpers, including popular sires Lordship and Lacantus and the great jumper Lux Z. Lux Z competed at the Syndey Olympics and earned over one million euro in his incredible career. Lux Z is out of an Ahorn Z daughter (Alme Z/Ganeff). Lord Calando himself is out of the same dam as world-class showjumper Cathargo Z.

Royal Appearance descends from the powerful Stamm 185. Fourth dam Infra is the dam of Raimond (Ramzes), sire of Ramiro Z, arguably the world's most influential sire of jumpers. Third dam Elonin produced Kultur, dam of approved stallion Capitol Hill (Caletto I).

Royal Appearance's foal crops have been relatively small, but even from just a few foals, he has sired a high percentage of Inspection Site and Breed Show Champions and his oldest foals are now competing very successfully under saddle. His foals are instantly recognizable and all share his strong conformation, athleticism and modern type.

From his first crop of only two foals, Royal Appearance produced Royal Raconteur out of the Thoroughbred mare Bella Marina* xx, by Pontifex xx. At his foal inspection, Royal Raconteur was named Premium Foal and went on to become the 2000 ISR/Oldenburg NA East Coast Reserve Champion Colt. As a 6 year-old, Royal Raconteur was the #7 Preliminary Horse of the Year for USEA in 2006. Owned and campaigned by Clark Montgomery, Royal Raconteur is currently competing at the Intermediate level and finished second in his division at Morven Park in October 2006 and third in his division at The Fork in April 2007. Royal Raconteur was bred by Eileen Pritchard-Bryan.

In 2001, Rivendell (x Princess Nancy* xx, I'ma Hell Raiser xx), bred by Elizabeth Callahan, was named Site Champion with an overall score of 8.5! Also from his 2001 crop, Royal Appearance sired the gelding Cor Royale (x Coralie, Cor Noir), owned by Susan Ferenz. Cor Royale placed 4th in the Yearling Fillies at Dressage at Devon in 2002 with a score of 73.1% and 8th in the large ISR/Oldenburg NA class against older horses in 2003, with a score of 78%.

In 2002, daughter Royal Robin (x Aschenputtle*, Galoubet), bred by Hilltop Farm, Inc. and owned by Kay Cashman, was awarded Premium Foal status with an overall score of 8.2 and finished the year as USDF #2 Oldenburg NA Yearling Filly.

The 2003 filly Rimini (x Foxtrot's Win-Sum xx, Final Pool xx), bred by Gilian Pinette, was named Reserve Champion Hunter Mare at the 2005 Canadian Sport Horse Classic.

The 2004 filly BW Royal Princess (x Bit A Luck*, Le Santo), bred by Linda D. Santomenna of Blue Waters Farm, was named High Score Filly 3rd Place at her Hilltop Farm Inspection with an overall score of 8.4. This lovely filly won the USA Bred Filly Championship and Fillies of 2004 (82%) at the Fair Hill Dressage SHBS and contributed to the Blue Waters Breeder's Group Win (83.5%) at Dressage at Devon in 2004. In 2005, BW Royal Princess returned to Fair Hill and was named Oldenburg Champion.

The 2006 colt BW Regal Reception (x Bit A Luck*, Le Santo) was also named Premium at his foal inspection, with a score of 8.3. In 2006 he went on to place 3rd in the ISR/Oldenburg NA 2 & Under class and 8th in the Colts of 2006 class at Dressage at Devon, and was 5th in the Colts of 2006 class at Fair Hill.
